Jakes 6:00- Close

Turkey Day greetings from Jake's Cigar Bar. Currently, we have had an even 22 customers since we opened earlier this afternoon. I was anticipating being really bored, so I threw in the camera and ended up doing a quick time lapse photo-video project about how slow it has been here. That will be up as soon as I can get home and put all 1200 photos together into a video.

I've never been a big fan of Thanksgiving. Don't get me wrong, I love food and drink, I just don't enjoy the inevitable conversations that will have to ensue. I'll be under the barrage of very predictable questions: "So are you still planning on going to graduate school?", "Where are you working now?", "Don't you think President Obama is ruining the country?".  And I have to just sit there fighting my cousins over the last slice of pumpkin pie and hoping that enough wine will make me care less about how an email forwarded from an unknown author is not a viable source for political discussion.

Speaking of pie... I believe pie is the only think I really miss. I've never been a staunch supporter of Turkey, Football, or Family Gatherings, but Pie...Pie is a cause I can get behind. If Pie was running for office I'd vote for it. I'd register my deceased relatives and have them vote for it as well. They don't care, mostly because they are dead, but also because mere act of posthumously voting to elect pie gives them a "Get out of Hell Free" card. True story. Shut up.

But I digress... where was I? Oh yes, PIE.  I could go on with the clever comparisons in the vein of "If Pie was a PERSONIFICATION, I would do UNSPEAKABLY INTIMATE THINGS to it.", but I think you get the idea. One of these days, when I have seemingly inexhaustible wealth, I will travel the streets on Thanksgiving with a trolley full of various pies and toppings, giving free slices of deliciousness to unfortunate people who are forced to work on Thanksgiving Day.

Signed,
Grant
